I don't know how the SMT crossover will work out, but I stumbled upon this crossover from Capcom:
(This is Sen no Kiseki II x Monster Hunter Frontier G, btw.)
Maybe the FE x SMT crossover might end up similar to this. You take characters from one game and tailor them to the art style, gameplay and tactics of the other. Let me know if I shouldn't post this and I'll take it down~ Cheerio @_@

This is the right place to post this. No problems there. This reminds me of the Chrom and Lucina MHF-G costumes earlier. For some reason, they use Nidhogg from The Sacred Stones. There's no telling what SMTxFE is going to look like, but since it's stated to be an RPG, it could be either SMT's gameplay (um, with SMT characters summoning the FE cast to fight for them?), or something completely original. I can't imagine a traditional RPG (see Golden Sun) with that many characters, though.

Personally I hope it won't be a traditional turn based RPG since these always have limited amount of characters (except for Pokémon, but you can, technically, only use one Pokémon at a time)...
I'm all for action RPGs like the Seiken Densetsu series (Secret of Mana) or Kingdom Hearts (even though I dislike that game). A FE crossover with that kind of gameplay like in the video could be interesting as well, but we'll see!

SMT is a Pokémon-like RPG, and I don't quite see how that will work with Fire Emblem. I always thought if they wanted to make a modern FE, why not just make a crossover with Advance Wars? That way, they can keep the SRPG gameplay, and they can introduce disposable and permadeath units to each other's audience.
I'm into ARPGs... somehow. Between Starlight's games and Ys, I feel like I should explore more in that area. They don't have games available for the modern consoles I have though. The closest I can get is Ys I and II on DS, or as PC Engine games on Wii Virtual Console, but I don't feel like going back to those, either. I suppose an action-based FE would work as a spinoff title, provided they are spinoffs of existing games (it's still a series about the dialogs in the games, so it won't work well as an action game). If anything, the weapon system (breakable and forgeable) would be interesting to see.
