Since I don't have a DS but I've been hearing articles about how "easy" or "hard" the game is, I'd like to know anyone's thoughts about how good (or not as good) Echoes has been.
The only thing I'm glad to hear about is simplifying the number of different units. I don't mind having a handful of different classes tbh. I just might have to settle for YT?...ugh.

It's kind of like The Sacred Stones to me. The third Fire Emblem game on a handheld system that serves as a stopgap before the next home console game, with diversed monster types, a world map, a somewhat power-reliant male protagonist, a rather naive female protagonist, 33 playable units (not counting Dean and Sonya separately), and a post-game ruins that's 10 floors deep. I have just beaten it (as in, finished the post-game ruins), but I haven't really gotten around to write about it. Nor do I really need to, since you can learn a lot by just looking at the Serenes Forest forums. Overall, I do like it, but I think it's too short. You also don't need multiple playthroughs for absolute 100% completion, unlike most FE games out there. You should probably have a dedicated playthrough to get that "finish the game in 500 turns" badge, though. I simply am not interested in doing low turn count playthroughs myself. Just some quick thoughts: - It's faithful to the original, so if that's your thing, good. It keeps what sets Gaiden apart from the other games (weird classes, long-range bows, and so on), but has adjustments to the character and weapon stats to make it less frustrating.
- You can potentially gain many levels. You don't need them all, but I always promote at level 20 anyway just because I want an overpowered team. Same for the weapons; you can forge them to make them stronger, but it's not needed.
- The (Japanese) voice acting is good. The animated cutscenes aren't what I hoped for. They're 2D and have obvious compression artefact, for some reason.
- There's a grand total of 10 playable class types, including Alm and Celica. Mercenary, Soldier (Armour), Cavalier, Archer (Bow Knight), Pegasus Knight, Mage (female), Mage (male), Cleric, Hero (Alm) and Princess (Celica). The first four types have a third tier, bbut you actually don't even need that to beat the game if you class change at level 20. I actually prefer Radiant Dawn's overly diversed class system more.
- As short asthis game is, it feels very immersive. The voice acting and the music is excellent, and the generally feel that's similar to adventure games and visual novels help.
- "Should I buy this game?" Well, don't expect this game to be the best in the series, but I do recommend buying it. The immersive experience itself is worth it.
- My favourite part is the aforementioned music. My least favourite is the bugs present in this game. Using Mila's Turnwheel may freeze the game under unknown condition, and the DLC supports don't work correctly in a certain DLC map.
- This game gives me hope about the potential quality of the Switch game.

I guess I was a bit too late in reading your FE Echoes posts XD Oh well. =p
Edit: I should have added that if you're planning on archiving them, I'd be happy to read them then.

I have the archive (both the official one and my own attempt to archive the posts with comments), so I may think of posting them again when I have a chance to. Probably to Twitter.
